"The Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020," was her standard response.

However, like any other athlete aspiring to attend the showpiece event in Japan, she will have to wait a year for that chance, after the Games were postponed until July 23 to August 8 next year.

"The news of the Paralympics being pushed back 12 months, at first, was really disappointing, as I'd been training so hard for the past three years for the event," the 15-year-old swimmer said.

"However, the health and safety of all the athletes and staff are obviously the most important things in order to have a successful Games."

Missing the Games is just the tip of the iceberg for Greenwood and her family, who've endured a very tough 2020.

"This year has been incredibly tough on me and my family," she said.

"At the start of this year, we lost about 90 per cent of our property (not including their house) to the bushfires.

"I stayed at home to help defend with my family before heading to the Australian Institute of Sport for some much-needed training.

"Now the pandemic has hit Australia and things are hard.

"However, to make the Paralympic team after all of the training and sacrifices I've made in the lead up to it, would be incredible.

"It will be an absolute honour to represent Australia in Tokyo at the 2021 Paralympic Games."

To ensure she gives herself the best opportunity to achieve her goal, the Shoalhaven High School student has been training hard, despite the unique circumstances.

"When they first closed the pools five weeks ago, I was in the middle of a really tough training block, to prepare us for June's qualifiers," the Bernie Regan Sporting Trust grant recipient said.

"Not long after that, Swimming Australia was in touch with us and said to prioritise our health and safety at this time, while trying to stay as fit and motivated as we could at home in isolation.

"Although they didn't send out a specific program, we have been involved in Zoom meetings with our team staff including a nutritionist and physiotherapist.

"Due to everybody having access to different resources, with some of my teammates having access to pool systems, I am just using the tools I've got at home in Sussex Inlet and doing the best I can on land.

"I've been working with my exercise physiologist in Zoom meetings to put together a suitable program to keep working all of the muscle areas I use in swimming so that when I eventually do hop back in the pool, I'll be as ready as I can be.

"I've found a space in my home where I do these exercises, such as resistance band work and pool deck exercises that resemble swimming strokes.

"I believe all this work will be beneficial for when I do go back but in reality, swimming in the pool is the best way I can get back to my strongest form, which I have every intention on getting back to."

As deflated as the Bay and Basin Amateur Swim Club product was, Greenwood acknowledges she has taken positives from this enforced break.

"Even though I was set on hopefully competing at this year's Games, I think an extra year of training and developing, as I'll be 16 then, will definitely be a benefit and improve my chances of qualifying," Greenwood, who has used her extra time at home to get on top of school work and stay in contact with friends via video chats, said.

"This time has also made me mentally stronger, as it's been difficult to stay motivated at times.

"However, I've been working too hard and for too long for this Games opportunity, to let it just slip through my fingers."

Greenwood, as COVID-19 restrictions start to ease across the country, is optimistic she'll be back in the water by the end of the month.

"I'm really hoping to be back in the pool within the next three weeks," Greenwood, who her made her Commonwealth Games debut in 2018, said.

"Although I appreciate my training will be slightly affected in the short term - with me having to concentrate on my technique and endurance - I know with my drive to succeed, I'll be back to my fittest and in race shape in no time.

"I'm ready to prove why I should be on that plane to Tokyo next year."
