The program, that aims to create a platform to encourage females of all ages to play, referee, coach, officiate and administrate basketball, will run from 4-6pm on Friday, November 19 in Bomaderry - marking one of 11 venues to host this event over the next two months.
The program provides pathways and assists in the development of female role models.
These free sessions are targeted at girls aged 6-15 years and run for approximately two hours - with Shoalhaven's to be run by BNSW southern development officer Ben Bagoly.
The sessions give participants a taste of all the different aspects of basketball in a safe and supportive learning environment meant to inspire the next generation of female basketballers.
It doesn't matter if they are walking on the court for the first time or a seasoned pro, all skill levels and abilities are welcome.
"On behalf of my team at Basketball NSW, we are incredibly excited to head back on court for our I am a girl come and try sessions to help introduce new, young girls into the sport," Basketball NSW CEO Maria Nordstro said.
"It's all about fun, participation, building confidence and improving physical and mental health as well as wellbeing in a safe, inclusive environment to learn new skills and develop their basketball knowledge.
"These free sessions across NSW will not only be held to promote female participation, but also as part of the NSW Legacy's overall program for the FIBA Women's World Cup which will be hosted by Sydney next year."
This program is supported by the New South Wales government's strategic focus on women and girls in sport through the 'her sport her way' program and basketball's goal to move towards gender equality.
