Over winter the wet weather had prevented the RFS from conducting prescribed burning in preparation for the 2020/21 fire season.
Shoalhaven RFS district officer Marc Donnelly said recent burns around the Bay and Basin had provided "some very strategic areas" moving into the fire season.
"We're going to continue to look a more burning opportunities throughout the year," he said.
"La Nina has been declared by the BoM so we are looking at a wetter than usual year, so potentially opportunities will avail themselves through summer.
"If the conditions allow it we will continue."

The RFS has been planning its prescribed burns for a number of months and have highlighted a few areas.
"We're looking at conducting some works in the Milton Ulladulla area, some works in Jervis Bay Territory in partnership with the Wreck Bay community as well as Booderee National Park, and then all the way into the likes of Kangaroo Valley as well," Mr Donnelly said.
"Basically throughout the Shoalhaven that wasn't impacted by the Currowan fire."
Just on Saturday, a hazard reduction burn conducted by National Parks around Heathcote got out of control.
Mr Donnelly said while there was an inherent risk with any fire, the RFS were planning as thoroughly as possible.
"There is an inherent risk with undertaking hazard reduction, we are dealing with fire in the landscape.
"However, plans are quite thoroughly thought out for hazard reduction burning and planning can take quite some time - we utilise specialist supervisors to make sure burns are undertaken in favorable conditions.
"Basically it's preplanning - we're looking at upcoming conditions to make sure that if the fire is going for more than a day that we've got conditions that are favorable for us moving forward."
He asked the community to maintain vigilance around hazard reductions and to avoid the area if they can.
