Beecroft Peninsula, including the campground at Honeymoon Bay, has been evacuated as a precautionary measure, an official spokesperson said at 3.40pm on Friday, October 2.

The advice for campers in the Shoalhaven this long weekend is to find an alternative campground.
NSW RFS spokesperson Ben Shepherd said the fire, which was initially thought to be a spotover from a hazard reduction burn at Currarong, is now being treated as suspicious.

"We are now investigating the cause of the fire," he said.
"Local fire control officers were well aware of the mitigation crews in the area for the hazard reduction burn, and it was well in hand this morning."
It is understood the fire is burning in a south-westerly direction, and remains at advice level. It has burnt more than 94ha.
