The NSW State of Origin representative, who was due to play his 200th NRL match on Thursday night, sustained the injury at Sunday's training session at Kawana and had scans on Monday which confirmed the significant calf tear.
After a six-week recovery period, it is expected Finucane, a Bega Roosters junior, will be available for the start of the 2020 finals series.
The Finucane news is the latest blow for the second-placed Storm, as they strive to win their first premiership since 2017.
Skipper Cameron Smith, who has missed the past two matches, is in doubt to take on the Eels due to an ongoing shoulder complaint, while star five-eighth Cameron Munster is still recovering from a knee injury suffered in round 13's win against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
Then in Melbourne's big win against the Sydney Roosters last week, winger Suliasi Vunivalu (broken jaw) and in-form halfback Jahrome Hughes (groin) were added to the casualty ward.
