At high tide this afternoon, Shoalhaven City Council opened Shoalhaven Heads to the ocean.
A flash flood that hit Gerringong on Saturday damaged the homes of dozens of residents.
Footage from Kangaroo Valley shows the Kangaroo River running high. It appears to have broken its banks in some sections.

The SES has warned South Coast residents to remain alert and prepared, as rainfall is forecast to continue through to Monday afternoon, with more potential for flooding.
Moderate flooding is likely along the Shoalhaven River Monday morning, major flooding is possible Monday afternoon.
The Shoalhaven River at Nowra (AHD) is expected to exceed the moderate flood level (3.30 m) around 05:00 am Monday and may peak near the major flood level (4.30 m) around 5pm Monday.
Residents at risk of being impacted by floodwaters are advised to make preparations to stay with friends or relatives.
Further south, Moruya residents are on stand-by alert for evacuation.
