A severe weather warning and hazardous surf warning have been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for the South Coast for both Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, July 16.
Peak waves exceeding 11.5 metres have been recorded near Sydney and waves of 9 metres have been recorded off Batemans Bay.

"A deep and slow-moving low pressure system is centred over the central Tasman Sea," a Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said.
"This system is bringing powerful waves to parts of the New South Wales coast.
"The low is expected to weaken and move away to the east later in the week, bringing an easing of conditions."
NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command have advised people to consider staying out of the water, avoid rock fishing and boaters planning to cross shallow water or ocean bars to delay their voyage.
On Tuesday, Shoalhaven SES didn't have many incidents with most calls being requests for sandbags to help property owners prepare for the weather.
The SES remains on standby for Wednesday and Thursday's predicted conditions.
Tuesday in Jervis Bay, 28mm of rain was recorded with wind gusts up to 81km/h, Ulladulla received 20mm of rain on Tuesday and 22mm on Monday, with wind speeds getting to 83km/h on Tuesday.
