Cities Power Partnership is a network of local Australian councils focusing on renewable energy and stopping climate change.
Shoalhaven City Council has been shortlisted for the Renewable Energy Achievement Awards, for its 2019 project "Charging Ahead with Renewables."
The project plans to promote solar power to local businesses, including the Bamarang Water treatment plant, which has already installed a rooftop solar PV system.
The project will also trial electric vehicles for council use, and use renewables to power 50 per cent of council's electrical supply by 2030.
Mayor Amanda Findley said this was a fantastic achievement for the Shoalhaven, and said council is heading down the right path with energy policies.
"Smart and sustainable," Mayor Findley said.
"Investing in renewable energy is not just good for the environment but great for councils long term financial plan.
"The project also includes the social access solar garden, and council's electric vehicle charging station policy, furthering our reputation as a green and sustainable city."
The Cities Power Partnership awards night is on August 29, where the winner will be announced.
