Two brothers arrested following an alleged break-in at Shoalhaven City Council's recycling depot in West Nowra during which a safe was stolen have been refused bail.

Alan Gillingwater, 31, and Robert Stanford, 25, of Old Erowal Bay both appeared in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, August 27.
Stanford is charged with having his face blackened/disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence and break and enter a dwelling in company stealing valuables not exceeding $60,000 and Gillingwater is charged with aggravated break and enter a dwelling in company.
Court papers said the pair allegedly entered the weighbridge office at the Shoalhaven City Council's Recycling Centre at Flatrock Road, West Nowra around 10.30pm on Monday, August 26.
They allegedly activated the recycling depot's security alarms, to which police responded.
Court papers said a grey coloured 60cm tall safe was allegedly taken during the break-in, which police found in nearby bushland.
Shortly after they also allegedly found Stanford wearing gloves and a balaclava.
Following investigations, officers went to a home in Sanctuary Point and arrested Gillingwater, They took him to Nowra Police Station where he was charged.
Court papers revealed Stanford was on bail at the time, facing a rape charge in Queensland, while Gillingwater was serving an Intensive Corrections Order.
Stanford did not apply for bail which was formally refused by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming, while Gillingwater was refused bail.
They will reappear in court on September 9.
