Fresh off finishing second at the Heroes de Mayo Iquique Pro, the Werri Beach Boardrider continued that strong form at the World Surf League men's qualifying series 3,000 event at Arica.
Bowen opened his assault on the event in the third round, where his score of 11.26 easily accounted for New Zealand's Elliot Paerata-Reid, Costa Rica's Noe Mar McGonagle and Brazil's Vitor Ferreira.
The 27-year-old then finished second to Brazil's Weslley Dantas (11.66 to 8.84) in round four before being edged out by United States' Skip McCullough (12.33 to 7.00) in round five - with the top two surfers from each heat progressing on both occasions.
These results booked Bowen a quarter-final match-up with Brazil's Wiggolly Dantas, which the South Coast rider easily won 7.17 to 4.53, to set up a semi-final with Peru's Alonso Correa.
Unfortunately, Bowen couldn't build on his strong quarter-final performance and only managed a 4.77, compared to Correa's 11.44, to end his title hopes and see him finished equal third with French Polynesia's Mihimana Braye, who lost to US' Nolan Rapoza in the other semi-final.
In the final, Rapoza defeated Correa 10.10 to 8.90 for the crown.
These two consecutive podium finishes has seen Bowen move up to 29th in the QS rankings, with 5,215 points to his name.
