On his way to the final at the men's World Surf League Qualifying Series 3000 event, the Werri Beach Boardrider won his round four and five heats, with scores of 8.94 and 12.90 respectively.
He then placed second in round six to South Africa's Matthew McGillivray (9.53 to 8.73), which saw him progress to the quarter-finals.
In the final eight showdown, Bowen made no mistake by dominating his Peruvian rival Migel Tudela 10.37 to 8.54.
Bowen, fresh off a win at the Culburra Beach Surf Bash, extracted revenge on his earlier loss to McGillivray by beating him 14.33 to 13.50 in the semi-final, to book in spot in the decider.
Unfortunately, Bowen couldn't get the better of Chianca in the final, with the Brazilian recording impressive wave scores of 9.57 and 8.17, for a combined two-wave total of 17.74, compared to Bowen's 13.27.
