Some South Coast Register readers were wondering about a vehicle in town promoting both the Shoalhaven local government area and federal National's candidate Katrina Hodgkinson.
Although the council as an organisation does not support any political candidate, individual councillors may.
The car in question is owned by Councillor Joanna Gash, who said she wanted to promote the region and her preferred candidate.
"It's my car, my signage, my number plate, and my prerogative who I support," she said.
"I had the Shoalhaven signage done to support the Shoalhaven - my background is in tourism.
"The number plate I got as mayor to promote the area."
Ms Gash has publicly supported Ms Hodgkinson's tilt for Gilmore since she was announced as a candidate in February..
