Mrs Sudmalis seemed relieved, after six years in federal parliament.
On Thursday at 8.30am, Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove dissolved Australia's 45th parliament, allowing Prime Minister Scott Morrison to call the election.
It will be held on Saturday, May 18.
Interjecting with the Nationals Candidate for Gilmore who introduced her as the Member for Gilmore, Mrs Sudmalis proudly declared she was now, in fact, the "former" Member for Gilmore.
"I'm done," she said.
Mrs Sudmalis, a strong supporter of Ms Hodgkinson, pointed out she had also been present at Liberal Candidate Warren Mundine's office opening.
Ms Hodgkinson's campaign coordinator and staunch Liberal Party member Joanna Gash presented a united front on Thursday.
"We're still a Coalition," she said.
"We're a family, we're offering choice."
