I'm 37. I was first elected to Shoalhaven City Council at age 22, re-elected at 26 and was Deputy Mayor for 2 years. Elected to State Parliament in 2011 and re-elected in 2015.
What's your profession outside of politics?
Admitted solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia. I hold degrees in Arts, Commerce and Law and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.
Why are you involved in politics?
Because I love our community and want to seek our region respected and cared for. I went into politics to get things done for our community particularly the Princes Highway upgrade at Gerringong, Berry, Berry to Bomaderry and Albion Park Rail. These projects have literally been my driving obsession.
What is the primary objective you would like to achieve in this electorate?
Finish the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade and Albion Park Rail Bypass. Upgrade Shoalhaven Hospital along with more doctors, nurses and staff and a major upgrade of the South Coast Rail Line.
Meet the other candidates
- Andy Higgins, Australian Labor Party
- John Kadwell, Christian Democratic Party
- Anne Whatman, Sustainable Australia
- Nina Digilio, Greens
What's the biggest (state government) issue affecting people in your electorate?
Making our roads safer.
How do you propose to help with this?
I've secured major NSW Government funding to stop the talk and see real action on upgrading the Princes Highway. Working with Shelley Hancock, we have been a strong team in State Parliament fighting hard to fix the Princes Highway.
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My paternal grandfather. He fought the Germans on the Western Front. He came home medically injured and passed away not long after his return from Europe when my father was only two years old. I'd like to meet him and ask him so many questions about his life and seek his advice like all inquisitive grandsons.
What is your favourite drink? I like a good crisp Pinot Grigio
What is your favourite hobby? I love golf and enjoy watching cricket
What is your favourite book? I've not long finished reading Pitt the Younger by William Hague. An amazing leader from such a young age. His tenure changed a country and cleaned up democracy.
What is your favourite TV series at the moment? I'm watching Secret City on Netflix (when I have time) and it's really got me hooked!
