After splitting their opening matches on December 2, Shoalhaven, coached by North Nowra-Cambewarra’s Brett Mark, claimed one win and a draw in rounds three and four.
On December 8, Shoalhaven, featuring Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ Nakita Boatswain, Charlotte Hopperton and Ruby Marshall, Bomaderry’s Ella Dyball, Batemans Bay’s Claudia Hannah and North Nowra-Cambewarra’s Emily Zerafa, first battled the South Coast Crew at Centennial Park.
After winning the toss, Shoalhaven batted first and reached 5/115 from their 20 overs – thanks to 22 not out from Hopperton.
In reply, Shoalhaven restricted South Coast to just 5/107, with Boatswain (2/17) and Dyball (2/9) taking two wickets each.
After this strong win, Shoalhaven went head-to-head with the Illawarra Flames, at the same ground.
The Flames won the toss and sent Shoalhaven to the crease, where they managed 7/90, on the back of a classy 25 not out (including four boundaries) from Hopperton.
In response, the Flames were sitting at 5/57 in the 16th over when rain stopped play, forcing the game to end in a draw.
With the ball, Dyball (2/3) took another two scalps for Shoalhaven.
Rounds five and six of the competition will take place on February 10 at Prell Oval and Seiffert Oval.
