A farmer has died in a tragic farm accident after his tractor suddenly reversed, running him over just before 11am on November 12. The man, who was in his late 60s, stood behind the idling tractor to attach an implement when it reversed unexpectedly, WorkSafe said. Police were called to the Lockington farm south west of Echuca, Victoria where the man was found dead at the scene. "The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing," Victoria Police said. IN OTHER NEWS: The man's death is not being treated as suspicious and WorkSafe is investigating. WorkSafe said the death is the 51st confirmed workplace fatality for 2023. "There were 66 work-related deaths at the same time last year," a spokesperson said. It is the second death caused by a tractor accident in the Echuca farming community in the past 18 months.
