Together with business partner Margaret Lewis, Ms de Stoop has moved her unique media training company, Jomima Productions, to the Shoalhaven.
And while much of their business is still in Sydney, the two women said they were looking for opportunities to expand into the South Coast.
Their company offers media training backed by the extensive experience of both women, with Ms Lewis being a former presenter and producer of radio current affairs and news programs, as well as having extensive experience in public relations.
In addition Ms de Stoop has a background of 30 years in television and radio news and current affairs.
While she was renowned for her hard-hitting and forthright interviewing style which had a reputation of rattling even the most experienced politicians, Ms de Stoop’s most obvious trait is her humour.
Ms de Stoop was a pioneer in the media, being the first woman to read weeknight news on a major network when she shared the desk with Melbourne news icon Sir Eric Pearce at GTV 9.
Other television credits include producing and presenting her own television current affairs program “No Man’s Land” for which she won a Logie Award, “A Current Affair”, “This Day Tonight”, “Shoulder to Shoulder” and “The Afternoon Show”.
In radio she spent six years as presenter of 2GB’s afternoon show, doing current affairs on 3AW, and worked alongside Bert Newton (“the funniest man in the world to work with”) at 3DB.
The women said they moved to the Shoalhaven from the Hawkesbury River because “we love the area”.
As part of an increasing number of people who can choose to live wherever they want regardless of work commitments, they said they were captivated by the Shoalhaven’s beauty and natural assets.
“Where else can you be where you are on the coast but still have all this beautiful dairy country around you?” Ms Lewis asked.
