Members of the community laid wreaths and flowers, and paid their tributes at different towns and villages.
"In no unreal sense it was on the 25th April 1915 that the consciousness of a nationhood was born," Captain Mark McConnell OAM RAN said in a dedication at the Bowral service.
Those who have served, and people who have had loved ones serve, wore medals with pride.
"As we stand together as a community today, we acknowledge the vital role of all those who have served, and continue to serve on the home front," Commander Emma Griffiths from the CO RANTEWSS said at the Mittagong day service.
"Without the support, commitment, confidence, and sacrifice of wives, husbands, children, mums and dads, sisters and brothers, it would simply not be possible for the Australian service men and women to do the work they do."
At the bigger ceremonies, people lined the streets for parades, and clapped as veterans and their families went past.
