Authorities are urging rock fishermen to wear life jackets after retrieving the body of a man in waters off the NSW mid-north coast.

The man was swept off rocks while fishing on Wednesday at Port Macquarie.
Marine Rescue NSW inspector Rodney Page said crews from two boats began the search for the man just after 6pm in challenging conditions.
"Marine Rescue volunteers conducted a search in deteriorating sea conditions between Miners Beach and Tacking Point," he said.
The man's body was found off Miners Beach, retrieved and brought back to the Marine Rescue Port Macquarie base.
"This is a tragic outcome and devastating for the family," Mr Page said.
The rock fisherman was not wearing a life jacket.
"Life jackets help save lives and we ask that all people wear a life jacket when rock fishing," Mr Page said.
The volunteers involved in the search underwent a full debrief and have been offered counselling.
