The pair first met around six years ago when they attended the same cooking class at Shoalhaven River College. But it wasn't until last year when they crossed paths again.
Luke was out for coffee with his friend, Lindie Reid. The ultimate matchmaker, Lindie noticed Luke couldn't keep his eyes off Samantha, who was at the same café with her grandmother.
Lindie introduced the pair, and the rest is history.
On April 11 last year, Luke and Samantha went on their first date at the Shoalhaven Zoo. From then, they enjoyed "Date Sundays" - and listed dancing, bowling and heading outdoors as some of their favourite ways to spend time together.
On Monday, Samantha thought they were going to Nowra's Grain and Marble Restaurant and Wine Bar to mark their one year anniversary, until Luke got down on one knee to pop the ultimate question.
"He was so nervous," Samantha said. "Then I was nervous when I saw the ring box."
"I didn't expect it to happen."
But she knew straightaway her answer would be yes. Samantha and Luke spent the rest of the night dancing and celebrating their engagement surrounded by family and friends.
Usually closed on a Monday, Grain and Marble's Steve Baset opened the restaurant for the occasion.
"We cannot thank Steven Baset enough for his devotion and support of our family and more so, Luke and Samantha," Luke's father, Rick said.
Lindie has accompanied the Samantha and Luke on every Date Sunday, and has loved watching their relationship grow.
"These two are the most amazing couple I have ever met. I couldn't be happier for them," Lindie said.
Many know them as a happy couple. Their secret?
"You've always got to think of the positives, not the negatives," Samantha said.
"Always be kind and truthful. She's a gorgeous, gorgeous girl," Luke said.
