The club was active at three different venues over the weekend with achievements across the team with an interclub win for Mark Astley, another state medal for Curtis Trkulja and a local race win for Nick Johns.
Astley secured his win in the Camden Cycle Club's Interclub criteriums at Macquarie Fields on Saturday afternoon in the A2 45 minute race.
He featured in an early solo breakaway move that was negated by the superior numbers of the host club, from that point he followed as another break went away and was reeled in close to the end.
A flurry of action leading into the bell lap saw Astley move up and attack, this gave the athlete the needed gap to hold on and finish with the win.
Fellow Nowra Velo club mate, Ben Wallis finished tenth in the same event while Ethan Astley placed ninth in the B2 criterium on the same program.
Dunc Gray Olympic velodrome played host to the Sydney Cup racing on Saturday evening. Nowra Velo's Curtis Trkulja showed out for his club racing in both the feature handicap event and in the NSW Omnium Championships.
Curtis picked up another state medal when he placed third in the Junior Under 19 championship and then followed up with a fine second position in the 2000 metre Sydney Cup on Wheels.
Curtis will continue racing next weekend in Brisbane at the Australian Championships at the Anna Meares Indoor Velodrome.
He will race endurance races in the under 19 junior events.
Locally, the scene for Nowra Velo on Sunday was a 42 kilometre handicap race on the Braidwood Road course. The event doubled up as round three of the 2022 Optus Series .
With the field spread across thirteen minutes and nine groups, the scratch riders who gave time away to the riders ahead were Josh Ludman (Hanlon Windows) and Stuart Austin (Penrith CC).
A hard battle through the field saw these two riders eventually reach the front of the race in the final couple of kilometres.
Ten riders remained tightly racing towards the finish line as they attempted to sprint for victory.
Nick Johns (Apres Velo) took the win ahead of Ludman and Steven Gendek (Access Storage).
Close up in fourth position was Dave Raymond (Illawarra CC), then Mark Williams (Hanlon), Cameron Judson (Canberra CC), Ben Wallis and Doug Gray of Access Storage, Zac Peters (Allen Price & Scarratts), Austin and Josh Henry (Access).
Mick Thompson (APS) was next over the line ahead of Trent Wiseman (Access), Jamie Overton (Hanlon), Jose Pereira (Access), Martyn Smith (NVC), Jo Chalain (Access), Matt Grootenboer (Access), Hubert Driehuis (APS), Greg Showell (APS), Ethan Astley (NVC), Matt O'Hearn (APS), and Pat McGill (Hanlon).
Brad Oaten punctured when in a prominent position and was unable to finish.
Access Storage took the team win, again. They have now won all three rounds of the 2022 Optus Series this year and are consolidating a strong lead for the remaining series events.
