Speed
Saturday, 9.30pm, Network Seven
If you have binge watched The Ashes since the first ball was bowled on December 8, you will no doubt stumble across the action classic Speed, if you don't bother to change the channel and have nothing more exciting planned for the evening.
It may not be festive, but Speed starring a fresh-faced Keanu Reeves (SWAT office Jack Traven) and Sandra Bullock (bus passenger Annie Porter) alongside a menacing Dennis Hopper (Howard Payne) as the ultimate maniacal bad guy, and Jeff Daniels as an unlikely SWAT officer (Harry Temple), is an adrenaline ride amid the soothing sounds of Christmas Carols and jingle bells.
The film's action focuses on a bus as it crushes a multitude of cars hurtling along a Los Angeles highway with Bullock at the wheel, after the original driver is shot.
She must keep the speed of the bus above 50 miles per hour or else it will blow up, killing those on board and whoever is in the vicinity.
Despite the fact this was released in 1994, the action still holds up. It picked up two Oscars (Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Sound).
Reeves' character manages to outwit the evil bomber but you know that isn't where it ends.
No spoilers here, you will just have to watch to see what happens.
Even if you've seen it before, many times, the action makes it worth another viewing.
Compass
Tuesday, 8.30pm, ABC TV
Christine Anu celebrates Christmas with a special episode of Compass. She explores how Australia's melting pot of traditions, cultures and faiths sparks festive joy and marvels at the kindness and resilience of Australians.
Michael Buble's Christmas in the City
Wednesday, 7.30pm (AEDST), Nine Network /9Now
It would not be Christmas without a Michael Bublé special.
This year he is joined by Leon Bridges, Camila Cabello, Jimmy Fallon, Kermit the Frog and London West End favourite Hannah Waddingham.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of his hugely successful Christmas album, Buble is accompanied by a 48-piece orchestra at the Rockefeller Centre, New York.
Waddingham stuns in red as she belts out Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) with Buble. Fallon and Buble sing some questionable impressions of famous artists singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Cabello sings I'll Be Home for Christmas with a Mariachi band accompaniment.
Kermit sounds a little different these days but his Jingle Bells duet with Buble will still raise a smile. Bridges and Buble combine for a change of pace singing Merry Christmas and the finale of Silent Night with the Princeton Boychoir is a fitting way to leave you with that warm Christmas spirit.
"It will be a night to remember, and I can't wait to celebrate with everyone."
