This program of events was the final meeting of local racing for 2021, to finalise another COVID-19 interrupted year.
The clubs in attendance, along with the hosting Nowra Velo included Illawarra, Lidcombe Auburn, Waratah Masters and Marconi.
Nowra Velo took wins in the C and D grade events when Adrian McMillan won C grade ahead of Gary Bryce (NVC) and Frank Quartrone (Marconi). Ethan Astley won D grade from club mates Michael Thompson and Zara Jobson.
A and B grade raced in a combined event which was won by Scott Delfs (Illawarra CC) in a sprint finish from Ed Parker (LA).
Delfs was the top placed B grader and Parker took the A grade first position.
After weeks of races hampered by rain and wind, Sunday turned on the sun for this program.
After numerous attempts to split the D grade field, Thompson raced to a clear lead going into the final lap. He was holding what looked like a winning margin into the finish straight but was run down by Astley in the final 50 metres.
Hubert Driehuis followed Jobson over the line for fourth, ahead of John Cullity, Jo Chalain and Jamie Overton.
McMillan used a similar tactic to race into the C grade lead over the last lap but he held his margin to the line.
A photo finish decided second position for Bryce ahead of Quartrone. Waratah's Ed Younger was fourth, followed by Glen Gorman (Marconi), Bill Stahlhut (NVC), Zac Peters (NVC), Jon Schol (NVC) and Jose Pereira (NVC).
The combined grade started fast with Parker driving the speed to disrupt the field. Solid attacks then started to take the race apart at half distance and riders were scattered around the course.
Parker and Delfs were together into the final lap but the Illawarra rider was the faster to the line.
Jason Green (Waratah) was the third placed rider, ahead of Chris Chow (Waratah), Mark Astley (NVC), Dave Jacobs (Marconi), Brad Oaten (NVC), Colin Petrie (Waratah) and Ben Wallis (NVC).
A number of Nowra Velo members took part in the Bowral Classic over the weekend, a program of criterium racing and long distance road events.
Josh Ludman, Curtis Trkulja, Gavin Nethery, Elliot Ashby, Jason Spence, Matt O'Hern, Geoff Lockhart, Kate Darke, Scott Bowman and Andrew Reed were included in those fields.
No results were available at available at the time of writing.
Nowra Velo Club racing will resume on January 16 to start a full program of events for 2022.
