Reel in a flatty
South Coast, December 4-5
The Australian Flathead Challenge is an online event where South Coast anglers chase the popular species, Flathead. Competitors record their results on the REEL IT IN app. There's a Southern division where last year's winner celebrated a dusky flathead over a metre from St Georges Basin. There's over $50,000 worth of prizes, random draws and giveaways, including the major draw of a boat, motor, trailer package with full custom wrap valued at over $13,500. The Highland Valley Forage is back to tell the story (through food and wine) of how the Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and South Coast are connected. A lineup of comedians will take the stage at the Jervis Bay Brewing Co. The event kicks off at 7pm and asks for a gold coin donation to raise money for charity.
Wings Over Illawarra
Shellharbour Airport, November 27-28
Organisers of the region's biggest air show at Shellharbour Airport are expecting strong crowds for their November 27-28 event. General admission tickets are currently on sale through the event's website, though VIP and Gold Pass tickets are sold out. Major attractions include: free carnival rides and sideshow alley, helicopter joy flights and an Australian Defence Force experience.
