South Coast Police has issued a warning after an increase in registration plates being stolen from vehicles across the region.

Police said often, inquiries find these stolen plates are attached to other vehicles, sometimes stolen vehicles, which are then used in committing further offences.
These further offences can range from failing to pay for fuel, to more serious matters like robberies.

Police say to avoid this from occurring to you, think of possibly installing sensor lights or CCTV cameras on your property where your vehicle is kept.
Also consider the option of using a registration shield or even anti-theft number plate screws.
