Selfish behaviour
It has annoyed me that Sydney-siders have behaved so selfishly I believe in packing the beaches. We in the Shoalhaven had until recently no cases since June 2020.

I feel we should be let out of lockdown in two weeks time because it's not fair to hold us to the zero regulation. The Shoalhaven has had one of the highest vaccination rates well before the Sydney lockdown occurred.
But if this doesn't happen then at least make hairdressers essential workers for double vaccinated clients or first dose vaccinations. That way we can have our haircut and ladies have their hair dyed once again.
Also I feel Shoalhaven should be in a separate health region and not added with the Illawarra. This was the case until eight years ago. Then we wouldn't have people confusing Shoalhaven with Shellharbour (Illawarra) and miscalculations of COVID cases in the Shoalhaven.Come on Mr Barilaro, be fair to the people of the Shoalhaven.

Every minute counts
Very disappointing that we are spending that much of our money ('Plans revealed' South Coast Register 17/9/21) in an already congested area of Nowra and do take into account that Shoalhaven is 150K coastline LGA and that Bay and Basin is the largest population (and growing) in NSW without access to a hospital. Furthermore, decision makers just do not understand that every minute counts when you need access to Health Services.

How will we cope?
I had to have my radical cystecomy for bladder cancer in Liverpool Hospital, because our Nowra Hospital has such small operating theatres. I needed two surgeons plus blood transfusion and high level ICU recovery. I hope that the new theatres will cope for such six hour operations?
David Andrews, Vincentia
As I have been having treatment in the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Clinic I can't find any fault in the safety given to patients (50km ruling sparks worry, Milton Ulladulla Times 15/9/21). All nurses have always been gowned and masked when treating.

Where is the minister?
Unfortunately following the NSW COVID outbreak at Bondi the focus of the Government has been on the South Western and Western Suburbs, blaming the residents lifestyle, the large families, the small houses making it difficult to isolate.
There was criticism of vaccine hesitancy but one of the allocations of vaccines was removed. The lockdown restrictions were more severe on these compared to the Eastern Suburbs who in lockdown were allowed to both swim and sunbake on Bondi beach whereas in the Fairfield, Liverpool Local Government areas they were not allowed to leave their homes and the police and the Army was brought in to enforce these rules.
One of the biggest problems was the number of migrant families who had trouble not only reading the instructions but understanding the daily updates and the Government support for these areas left a lot to be desired.
After some months the mayors of 12 of these LGAs asked for a meeting with the Premier who initially refused the meeting. This should have been the responsibility of the Minister for Local Government. Eventually the premier agreed to three Zoom meetings with four mayors at a time.
All the while where was the Minister for Local government? I had not heard of the Minister being seen or heard of in these areas, it would have meant a lot to these people to know someone cared.
The Eastern Suburbs in lockdown will be able to go to the beach, whereas my son is allowed two hours of exercise and the opportunity to have a picnic with five householders when he lives alone.
Still where is the minister?
