Never being one to step down from a challenge, the 40-year-old took accepted the call from his two sons, Kruz and Jagger, to attempt a quadruple backflip.
To assist with achieving the goal, the former Kiama High student and his specially designed steel ramp were hoisted close to 2km in the air by a helicopter.
Maddison, who owns a house on the Shoalhaven River, then rode his bike down the ramp, before freefalling and completing the quadruple backflip.
He then dismounted the bike and deployed his parachute, before landing safely on the ground, not too far from his Californian home.
"It's my greatest stunt," Maddison, who teamed up with Razor for the stunt, said in a statement.
"I'm super proud of it.
"There was a different element, having my kids involved and showing them you're able to achieve things if you go about them the right way."
Despite pulling off the stunt in one attempt, months of preparation went into its execution, including Maddison jumping out of the plane and out of a hot air balloon and doing backflips without the bike - not to mention hanging the ramp above his foam pit and practising backflips into it.
Staying true to form, Maddison admits "you can bet your bottom dollar plans are in place" for his next stunt.
