On Wednesday, Corrective Services NSW confirmed the possible exposure of the staff member at the South Nowra Jail, believed to be through the staff member's partner, and said it was following the expert advice of NSW Health, with "all appropriate precautions being taken" as investigations were carried out.

On Thursday Correctives said the staff member had returned a negative test for COVID.
Corrections has also outlined the wide range of precautions they are taking in an effort to keep COVID out of the jail system.
