THE enforced NSW-wide stay at home orders mean this week's planned Vietnam Veterans' Day commemoration has had to be postponed, causing disappointment for the Shoalhaven Vietnam Veterans Association.

The Shoalhaven branch was planning to mark the 55th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan on Wednesday, August 18 but Shoalhaven branch president Clyde Poulton said that service has now been postponed.
Mr Poulton stressed the fact the commemorative service "had not been cancelled".
"We will hold a service this year to mark Vietnam Veterans' Day," he said.
"Hopefully as stated if we are only in a seven day lockdown we will hold it [the service] a week later than usual.
"We are not cancelling, just postponing.
"We have not missed a commemorative service in 40 years and we won't be starting now."
He admitted however there would most likely be some changes as to how the usual service is conducted.
"That will all depend on the health advice at the time and we will abide by and follow that advice," he said.
He said the 55th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan commemoration will again be held at Walsh Park, Bomaderry, on a date yet to be fixed, but with an earlier starting time of 5pm.
