The Australian Commitment in Vietnam War was from 1962 to 1973. During this time in excess of 60,000 members of the Defence force served in Vietnam.
Tragically 521 people killed and in excess of 3000 others where wounded, injured or suffered illness. There is, of course, the many thousands who continue to suffer all manner of physical and mental problems still.
The date is the 65th Anniversary of the battle of Long Tan, which was one of the fiercest battles fought in the war with 17 Australians killed and a further 25 were wounded, one of whom later died of wounds.
