The announcement of the NSW and ACT boys and girls teams was to occur after this week's state junior championships at Byron Bay and Ocean Shores - however, with the current COVID outbreak causing the cancellation of the tournament, this was no longer possible.
Joining Mollymook Golf Club product Halls, who now competes with the NSW Golf Club, in the NSW junior boys representative squad are The Australia pair Jeffrey Guan and Joshua Todd, NSW Golf Club's Ali Rachid, Pymble's Jake Riley and St. MIchaels' Daley Loumanis.
Headlining the NSW girls team are The Australian trio Brielle Mapanao, Ella Scaysbrook and Charlotte Perkins, Concord's Sophie Yip, Avondale's Rachel Lee and NSW Golf Club's Michelle Di Natale.
Golf NSW's high-performance manager Khan Pullen said all of the individuals selected had shown their readiness to compete at a higher level despite the difficulties COVID had presented over the past year.
"Being selected to represent your state is an important milestone in the career of any athlete," Pullen said.
"The players selected have recorded some great results, especially with the difficulties of closed borders and travel restrictions due to the pandemic.
"For some, this is the beginning of their journey into elite golf. For others, it's recognition of their extraordinary recent performances."
The eight athletes in the ACT squad include boys Rowan Harrison (Murrumbidgee), Angelo Bourandanis (Royal Canberra), Hunter Caldwell (Cooma) and Nathan White (Yowani) and girls Silka Solomon (Royal Canberra), Matilda Sullings (Federal), Amber Tilley (Belconnen Magpies) and Claire Brooker (Gold Creek).
