Co-owner of The Deli on Kinghorne Tonya Hughes said she has had to cut employees shifts due to the slower trade.
"We're certainly not seeing anywhere near the business that we usually would. There have certainly been some sleepless nights and making sure we're doing everything we can to attract customers," she said.
"I've only got my full time staff on at the moment and usually in the school holidays, I have three or four juniors who have all lost shifts."
"We're probably showing a decrease in turnover of about 30 to 40 per cent, which for us is a big thing.
"There's certainly been a marked impact on us so we're really encouraging everyone to come out and use their Dine and Discover vouchers."

Despite the slower trade, Tonya said she has been pleased with the amount of people using their Dine vouchers.
"We've put through a lot of vouchers and we picked up the initiative as soon as we could," she said.
"We've had a reasonably good response, but it has died off in the last couple of weeks.
"The extension of the vouchers is great."
Owners of The Cake Store Amit and Kylie Patel also signed up for the Dine and Discover vouchers as soon as they were announced.
Also experiencing a slower trade season, they have welcomed the amount of customers using the vouchers.
"We've been a part of it since it first launched and it's been regular with people using them almost daily," said Amit.
"There's been a mix of regulars coming in to have an extra meal in their week and then we've had others who haven't tried us before.
"We've had the signage up and promoted it on social media, we've found people are just coming in and using them at their own volition rather than us having to push it."
The use of the Dine and Discover vouchers has been extended until Saturday, August 31.
