ISLHD's three COVID-19 vaccine clinics were established in March 2021 at Wollongong, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven Hospitals.
A spokesperson from ISLHD said the clinics continue to provide the Pfizer vaccine to those who are eligible and have also provided outreach to a number of sites, including Milton.
As of Wednesday, July 7, NSW has administered over 942,000 doses of vaccine (excluding doses administered as part of the federal government's vaccination programs in aged and disability care, GPs and health services).
That's 11.54 doses per 100 people which is the lowest amount in the country.
"Please be assured that everyone who wants to be vaccinated, will be vaccinated," the ISLHD spokesperson said.
"All people in NSW aged between 40 to 59 are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. There is currently significant demand for vaccination bookings across NSW, including at the district's vaccination clinics. If there are no available bookings at a location near you soon, please continue to visit the eligibility checker as more vaccination appointments become available.
"NSW Health continues to vaccinate eligible people in the priority groups set out by the federal government. People can check to see if they are eligible to receive a vaccine, and if eligible, book an appointment at a clinic, via the Australian Government eligibility checker.
"NSW Health has progressively expanded its capacity to administer COVID-19 vaccines since the rollout began in February and is continuously exploring a range of options to further expand its capacity, subject to vaccine supply, so we can support the GP network to quickly and safely vaccinate as many people as possible across NSW."
Last month, the NSW government announced the development of a mass vaccination hub to be located in Wollongong's CBD. The facility will administer the Pfizer vaccine and will open mid-August in the former David Jones building in the Crown Street shopping mall. The spokesperson from ISLHD said the centre will have the capacity to administer up to 15,000 vaccines per week, approximately 2,500 per day (six days a week).
The spokesperson said ISLHD appreciated people's patience and urged everyone to get vaccinated as soon as it was possible to do so.
"In doing so, you take an important step to protect yourself, your loved ones and the community."
