At Lyrebird Park, it took just one minute for the hosts to open their accounts through Alex Rogan.
Heads' Matthew White levelled the scores in the 12th minute before Matthew Lewis' strike, less than 60 seconds later, saw the Bears again gain the ascendancy - which they held until half-time.
One minute after the resumption, White's second saw the two sides tied up once again.
Staying true to form, that 2-all scoreline didn't last long as Rogan's second, in the 54th minute, gave Trevor Skingle's troops the lead for the third time.
Seven minutes later, Nathan Thomas' boot made it all for the Sharks before the visitors hit the front for the first time when Lewis King found the back of the net less than five minutes before full-time.
Despite the Bears' best efforts, the visitors held on for a memorable 4-3 win - which handed the hosts just their second defeat of the campaign.
Despite the loss, the Bears are still first, just ahead of second-placed Bomaderry on goal difference - after the Tigers ground out a tough 1-nil triumph against Milton-Ulladulla at Lighthouse Oval.
The difference between the two sides proved to be a Samuel Baxter goal in the 65th minute.
Both the Bears and Tigers sit on 25 points after 11 Shoalhaven District Football Association rounds, six clear of third-placed sides Huskisson-Vincentia, Heads and Manyana - with Milton two points behind those three.
The Seagulls moved onto 19 points thanks to a hard-fought 3-all draw with Illaroo at Sharman Park - to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.
Evan Leedham opened the scoring for the Roos in the fifth minute before the visitors rattled off three straight goals through Jayden Lee (23rd minute), Gary Masterson (59th) and Joshua Attwood (84th).
Just when it appeared they had secured maximum points, a late flurry by the hosts, including goals to Leedham (85th) and Kyle Batalla (89th), saw the match end in a stalemate.
The final Blackmore Bolden Shield match on Saturday saw Manyana down Callala 3-nil at Emmett Street Oval, thanks to goals from Oliver Boserio (sixth), Billy Zappas (70th) and Mathew Pepper (80th).
St Georges Basin had the bye this round.
When the action returns to the field on July 10, Bomaderry hosts Illaroo, Huskisson plays Callala, Manyana takes on United and Basin battles Milton, with Heads having the bye.
