Police are appealing for public assistance to locate the owner of spearfishing equipment found in waters off the South Coast on Tuesday.

The equipment was recovered by a fisherman from about six metres of water approximately 100m off Narrawallee Beach Headland, Narrawallee, just north of Mollymook Beach, about 3pm on Tuesday, June 15.
The equipment was handed to officers from South Coast Police District a short time later and an investigation began, with assistance from the Marine Area Command, to locate the owner of the property.

The equipment found was:
- Green Typhoon rail gun and spear
- Go-Pro 4 camera with attached orange Adreno Spear Master buoy
- Ocean Hunter black fish bag
- Black LED torch
- Red croc-style shoes
Police have reviewed images on the camera's memory card and believe the owner of the gear may be a man of Asian appearance, about 20-30 years old and of a slim build. The man is believed to be driving a Jeep-style vehicle.
Officers conducted a land and sea search of the Narrawallee Headland area but failed to locate the owner of the equipment.
PolAir will conduct a subsequent search of the surrounding area on Wednesday.
South Coast police have not received any missing persons reports related to this incident at this stage.
