The hosts took just three minutes to open the scoring, when a shift to the left, following a scrum, saw halves Paul Roberts and Sam Clune put young fullback Jesse Prinsse over on debut.
Roberts converted for 6-nil.
But the visitors hit back seven minutes later when prop Jayden Farmilo won the race to a Travis Wooden grubber kick.
Despite Lleyton Roach's missed conversion, Dogs fans had reason to cheer soon after, as the visitors scored their second try.
Farmilo ran the ball to the line, held it up and found front-row partner Roach with a deft short-ball, for the latter to hit a gaping hole and score.
Russell again missed the kick but the Dogs now led 8-6 after 20 minutes.
That two-point lead was short-lived, as the host hit back seven minutes later.
A shift to the right put the ball in Clune's hands, which saw him cleverly put back-rower Jarrod King over.
Roberts added the extras and the Park were up by four.
Just before the main break, after Clune was held up over the line, the Eagles scored their third through centre Billy Hayburn - who stepped back against the grain to barge his way over.
Roberts failed to convert, as the Eagles led 16-8 at half-time.
The hosts' lead was extended in the 54th minute when skipper Josh Sainsbury strolled through a yawning gap in the Dogs' line.
Roberts added the extras for 22-8.
Minutes later, a break by Cooper Tunbridge led to his fellow winger Dallas Harrison scoring.
Roberts' boot then extended the margin to 20 points.
In the 64th minute, the Eagles' two halves linked up, seeing Roberts put Clune over - which the former converted.
The next to cross for the Eagles was prop Tom Warner, who made a rampaging 40-metre run to score.
Roberts failed to convert from out wide, as the score remained 38-8.
With six to play, the Dogs crossed for their third after fullback Zane Gallagher pounced on a dropped ball by Blake Jones.
Tyler Evans converted for Peter Leffley's troops and it was 38-14.
The win was iced by the hosts in the 77th minute when Ben Scurr powered over and Roberts converted - to make it 44-44 at full-time.
Next up, the third-placed Eagles, who have a 5-2 record in 2021, travel to Flinders Field to face the Stingrays, while the winless Dogs host the Jets at Bill Andriske Oval - with both fixtures being played on Sunday from 3pm.
