THE Shoalhaven Mariners second grade side continued its rich vain of form on Saturday, as they defeated Baseball Illawarra rivals the Berkeley Eagles 10-2 at Ison Park.

Mariners pitcher Will Page Allen came out strong on the mound, keeping the Eagles scoreless in the first innings.
The Mariners bats followed suit as Callum McNicol brought in the host's first two runs.
In the second inning, the Eagles managed to score one off an error from the Mariners.
In the third inning, the Mariners scored one off an Eagles error.
Then in the fourth inning, the Mariners kept the Eagles scoreless before catching fire with the bats in their hands, to score five runs.
The fifth innings saw the Eagles bring over another run while keeping Shoalhaven scoreless.
In the sixth and final inning, the hosts shut the Eagles down with a great double-play from Will Page Allen, who took a catch in right-field and returned it to Michael Vine.
The Mariners bats came alive with another two runs late, s they ran out winners 10-2.
Single hits went to Callum McNicol (two), Lee Lawson, Jackson Mannix, Brenton McMahon and Marcus Atkinson.
Pitching duties were shared Will Page Allen (65 pitches, 39 strikes and seven strikeouts) and Brenton McMahon (35 pitches and 21 strikes).
Also at the South Nowra venue on Saturday, which saw Australian pitchers Tim Atherton and Steven in action for Berkeley's first grade side, was the Mariners' third grade fixture with the Eagles.
The Mariners kept the Eagles scoreless for the first four innings while responding with their bats - bringing in two runs in the second.
In the fifth inning, the Eagles took control having three safe hits, leading to just as many runs.
The Eagles field was tight and didn't allow the Mariners to score any more runs, as Shoalhaven suffered its first loss of the season 3-2
Callum McNicol had the Mariners only double hit of the game with singles going to Andrew Provest (two), Antony Lee, Stuart Raymond and Patrick Mannix.
Callum McNicol started on the mound throwing 63 pitches and 35 strikes with Andrew Provest finishing 43 pitches, 23 strikes and three strikeouts.
Then on Sunday, the Mariners fourth grade side played the Panthers at Ison Park.
It was clear from the get-go the Mariners were going to be outclassed by the strong Panthers side.
The Mariners never dropped their heads and it was good to see that both teams played in good spirits.
Zac Douglas was the Mariners' stand-out player. having two hits from three attempts and working hard with the pitching duties, as the visitors won 20-2.
Single hits went to Zac Douglas (two), Leith Grant and Amber Palmer.
Pitching duties were shared between Geoff Fulop (63 pitches, 39 strikes and one strikeout) and Zac Douglas (99 pitches, 60 strikes and two strikeouts).
Finally, in the sixth grade, the Mariners went toe-to-toe with the Dapto Chiefs.
It was always going to be hard for the much-improved Mariners to take on the competition leaders.
For the first three innings, the Mariners played their best baseball of their season, keeping the Chiefs to only four runs.
A lot of that came from the impressive pitching of Mariners' Riley Mason.
The other stand-out player was newcomer Zac Ghilezan, who made some nice plays at second base.
The scoreline does not reflect how impressive the Mariners, with the Chiefs winning 17-1.
The Mariners only hit of the day was from Kalysta Palmer, who had a double to right field.
Pitching duties were shared between Riley Mason (47 pitches, 28 strikes and four strikeouts) and Ben Quiney (84 pitches, 55 strikes and two strikeouts).
