He described the surf near his Sydney home as 'terrible' and soon adopted Ulladulla as his favourite surf spot. He's got plenty of fun memories from those years and many friends who still live here today.
Now based in Scotts Head, the filmmaker is looking forward to coming back to town on Saturday, June 5 for his 'Surf Talk and Jam' night.
Over the past 45 years, Jack has travelled and produced films in the most exotic locations where he unearthed some of the best waves on the planet whilst working with the who's who of surfing royalty.
At the Ulladulla event he'll be chatting with Pam Burridge and Dion Agius, chatting about their careers.
Following the talk, it's time to kick back, relax and enjoy the premiere of GLOBE's new film, Dark Shallow, featuring surfers Dion Agius, Craig Anderson and Chippa Wilson which was filmed throughout the South Coast.
"It's unlike anything you normally go to; it's real, authentic, credible and we'll be sharing some of the history not of only of my surfing, but Pam's too," Jack said.
There'll also be live entertainment from local band The Mojo Electric, bringing their signature eclectic blend of original groove funk music.
"I thought it was time to make people feel people like they can get out on a Saturday night," Jack said.
The event will be held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on Saturday, June 5 from 7pm. It's an all ages event. Grab your tickets here.
