At the fifth stop on the 2021 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) and the final event of the Australian leg, former St Johns student Wright downed Phillip Island's Nikki Van Dijk (12.50 to 11.43) in the quarter-finals to progress to the final four.
While Kiama High School alumna Fitzgibbons easily accounted for Hawaii's Malia Manuel 15.10 to 9.47.
The pair will now duke it out in semi-final one for a spot in the decider - with the winner taking on the victory of semi-final two between Hawaii's Carissa Moore and France's Johanne Defay.
While in the men's draw, both Culburra Beach's Owen and Mikey Wright were eliminated in the round of 16.
Older brother Owen lost 14.50 to 11.00 to Brazil's two-time world champion Gabriel Medina, as Mikey fell to US' Conner Coffin 15.23 to 13.50.
Action at Strickland Bay has been called off until at least Tuesday due to onshore winds and messy surf.
"The wind is still blowing onshore this morning and it's looking messy out there," said WSL SVP of tours and head of competition Jessi Miley-Dyer.
"These conditions are supposed to stick around for the next 36 hours or so, so with that in mind, we will make our next call on Tuesday morning when the conditions are looking really promising.
We only have six heats left of the Australian leg, so we want to make sure we wrap up in the best possible waves."
