Chaplain Jenny Schleusener conducted a ceremony on land at 808's squadron base, before another airborne ceremony was conducted over Jervis Bay.

The couple's ashes were released from the aircraft over the spot where Commander Barnett's brother, Lieutenant R.W. Barnett died off Jervis Bay on May 3, 1951.
LEUT Barnett died when the 808 Squadron Sea Fury aircraft he was piloting crashed on take off from the aircraft carrier, HMAS Sydney.
