Kiama had dropped their opening two games, but bounced back to secure a well-earned 11.16-82 to 5.3-38 victory over Shellharbour at Myimbarr Oval.

While Saturday's game marked the Suns' first loss in 2021, Kiama's performance pleased coach Rod Richards, particularly when going inside forward 50.

"We didn't have many forward entries in our previous two weeks, so the inefficiency in front of goal wasn't my biggest concern," he said.

"We haven't gone forward enough in the first few rounds, which we've been working on, and the result came on Saturday which was good."

It was a tough slog in the opening quarter, with the Suns taking a slender two-point lead into the first break.

However, the visitors fought back in the second to lead by 13 points at half-time.

From there, the Power dominated, booting eight goals to two in the final two quarters to runaway to a big victory.

It's a performance that Richards is keen to build on.

"They're always tough, they're up and about at Myimbarr Oval," Richards said.

"But we put it to them a bit in the second quarter and held the the game at that point.

"And from there, it worked out to be okay.

"We plan to be in the top half of the field, we don't want to be scrambling down the bottom for fourth spot.

"We would rather be up there with the big boys.

"That's where we plan to be, that's where we want to be. And we plan to build from there."

Elsewhere, the Kangaroos notched up their second straight win with a 16.12-108 to 7.10-52 victory over Northern Districts while the Bulldogs claimed the bragging rights over the Lions in the all-Wollongong derby, winning 11.12-78 to 5.4-34.

In the women's premier division, Kiama downed Bomaderry 6.10-46 to 5.1-31, Saints outlasted Norths 3.8-26 to 1.1-7 and the Dogs edged the Lions 2.3-15 to 1.3-9.
