AFTER a disrupted season due to COVID-19 in 2020, the Shoalhaven Tigers junior representative sides' tipped off this year's campaign in impressive fashion on Sunday.

The opening round of the Barrengarry Conference competition, which incorporates teams from Merimbula, Batemans Bay, Shoalhaven, Kiama, Illawarra, Wollondilly, Moss Vale and Goulburn, was held at both the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre (under 14s and 18s) and Moss Vale Basketball Stadium (under 12s).
The Tigers' under 12 boys side made a thrilling start to their season, downing Illawarra 31-30 thanks to 16 points from Diesel Romeo.
In their second match, the Tigers went down 45-11 to a strong Merimbula outfit, before rebounding in their third fixture to record a 29-all draw with Wollondilly.
Cameron Donaldson's accuracy from the free-throw line continues to be a shining light for the side, as he is the top shooter from the stripe in the division.
In the under 12 girls, Shoalhaven started the year strongly by edging Illawarra White 25-14 before thrashing Wollondilly 38-9 in their second game.
But the black and golds couldn't make it three in a row, going down to 33-7 to Moss Vale in their final fixture.
Scarlett Waldmann sits just one point off the leading point-scorer, after chalking up an impressive 25 points through the first three fixtures.
On their home court, the Tigers' under 14 boys started their campaign against a well-disciplined Illawarra Red team, going down 40-24.
But they bounced back against Wollondilly in game two, winning 24-21.
The Tigers ended the day with a hard-fought 40-24 loss to Moss Vale, despite 14 points from Jimmy Brown.
The under 14s Shoalhaven side showed how dangerous they can be, firstly downing Goulburn 26-14 before smashing Moss Vale 40-3 and Illawarra 39-17, to end the day undefeated - with Zali Morris leading the way with 9.67 points per contest.
Finally, the black and golds' under 18 boys chalked up three wins to start the season.
The first came against Illawarra White (48-23), before overcoming Wollondilly (38-27) and Merimbula (47-36).
Finn Lochrin was a standout for the Tigers, scoring 28 points on the day.
The club's under 16s will tip-off their season's next weekend at Batemans Bay and Moss Vale, while the open men's and women's teams are training hard ahead of their June 4 opener at the Illawarra Sports Stadium.
