Most of the Stars' list, including Greater Illawarra product Adam Zampa, is locked in for the 2021-22 season, with Stars general manager Nick Cummins saying the club was keen to offer a new contract to batsman Maddinson - who had an improved season after a couple of disappointing campaigns.
"We'd like him to stay," Cummins said.
"I think this season he started to define his role in the team, and he played some effective roles with the bat, the ball and also in the field, his catching was very good.
"We're pretty happy with our domestic players, they've largely done the roles that we've asked of them, but that real focus is on the international players.
"It's likely that there's going to be a [overseas player] draft next year, so it's thinking about how we maximise our position in the draft."
During his six innings during BBL|10, the Bomaderry High School alumnus scored 134 runs, at an average of 33.50 - with his high score of 48 not coming against the Strikers on January 11.
Maddinson also chipped in with four wickets and five catches during the 2020-21 season.
