Emergency services were called to Lyrebird Dry Cleaners in Kinghorne Street just after 1.30am on Thursday, January 28.
When firefighters arrived at the complex, which also houses Crack Fix mobile phone repairers, the Iron Anvil-Tattoo Shop and Nowra Kebabs, and two street-top residences, they were faced with thick smoke and had to investigate to find the source of the fire.
Firefighters entered two separate premises and discovered the fire was in dry cleaners.

A large fire ball erupted from the premises and firefighters battled the blaze and managed to contain the major damage just to the dry cleaning business, however the other businesses along strip suffered smoke damage.
Fire and Rescue NSW Crews from Nowra, Shoalhaven and Berry and further afield from Kiama, Albion Park and the Hazmat unit from Shellharbour attended the scene, along with an aerial appliance from Wollongong.
That ladder platform appliance known as a Bronto was used to ensure no fire had escaped into the roof system.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance personnel also attended the blaze.
Two people who live in the residence above the shops had already been safely removed.
Fire crews remain on the scene Thursday morning and investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, with fire investigators including the canine detection unit expected on the scene later this morning.
More to come.
