Terrence Trujillo will drive the financial side of the business, replacing Hawks club legend Mat Campbell, who had been in charge during Simon Stratford's ownership and stepped down following the last round of voluntary administration.
Trujillo worked as a merchandise and licensing manager at the Dragons from 2005-2008, before taking on the role of head of marketing and consumer at the Bulldogs until 2015.
More recently, Trujillo had been the head of membership at Ticketek and head of client services at Softix, owner by TEG.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Hawks in what is sure to be one of the most exciting eras in the club's history," Trujillo said in a statement.
"I am looking forward to working with the ownership group, team and most importantly the members and the Illawarra community to deliver our vision of building a world class organisation the region can be proud of."
Co-owner Dorry Kordahi was confident Trujillo could lead the Hawks into a new era of financial success, after years of off-court turmoil, which led to the NBL and the new owners dumping the Illawarra name.
"As we strive towards building on our rich history, we have taken steps towards creating and driving strong commercial outcomes," Kordahi said in the statement.
"We believe that Terrence will bring a wealth of knowledge to the club and will provide a unique and valuable skillset in delivering positive commercial and marketing results.
"Terrence will be an important addition to the club as we continue building the new era of the Hawks."
