Although COVID-19 restrictions have changed the way students protest, they have remained committed to the cause.
Events were held at Nowra Graham Street Park and in Kiama on Friday, September 25.
They were among 630 such groups across the country sending a strong message to the current federal government: "Fund our Future not Gas."
Both groups followed COVID-safe practices.
The Kiama event was organised by the local branch of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC).
Organiser Denis Quinn said members felt it was important to show students they were not alone.
"We saw some indication of our likely future last summer," he said.
"So we're thoroughly sympathetic to students' calls to 'fund our future not gas'.
"The ideas of pursuing a gas economy is frightening and completely unacceptable."
