London Mayor Sadiq Khan has requested that Prime Minister Boris Johnson ban people from different households mixing as part of lockdown measures in the capital to halt the spread of COVID-19, the Guardian reports.

"One of the things that I said to the prime minister is: I think we should be following what's happening around the country and stopping social mixing of households, and I say that with a heavy heart," he said in an interview with the newspaper.
Several cities around the UK imposed such restrictions on Friday.
Leeds, a city of more than 750,000 in northern England, barred residents from meeting with members of other households either indoors or in private backyards.
In the Welsh cities of Cardiff, Swansea and Llanelli, households also will be banned from mixing indoors.
In Scotland, students were asked not to go to bars and restaurants this weekend.
The UK reported 34 new deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test on Friday, although the data excluded deaths in Scotland for technical reasons.
