SYDNEY Thunder players Alex Ross and Sam Bates will drop into the Shoalhaven region via video link next week, visiting schools and cricket clubs as part of the club's ongoing commitment to regional engagement.

Across two days, Sydney Thunder players will reach nine regional communities across Western and Southern New South Wales and the ACT.
This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the annual regional engagement initiative will be delivered remotely by players and local Community Cricket staff via a video stream.
On Tuesday, the two Shoalhaven schools to be involved will be Cambewarra Public School (9:30 -10am) and Nowra Christian School (11:30-12pm).
Ross and Bates will be connecting with schools and clubs from across the Shoalhaven on Tuesday, September 8.
Despite not being able to be on site as in past years, both players are still keen to inspire the community to love and play cricket.
Ross will enter his second season with Thunder when BBL|10 commences later this year.
The 28-year-old dynamic middle-order batsman said it was more important than ever that players connect with regional communities.
"Country and junior cricket is in so many ways the lifeblood of our sport," Ross said.
"As players, we hope by connecting remotely this year, we can continue to inspire the next generation of Thunder Nation players and fans in the Shoalhaven."
Sydney Thunder's purpose is to be a loved club that inspires and unites the Thunder Nation.
With engagement stretching across Western Sydney, regional New South Wales and the ACT, the club exists to give back to the community.
Underpinning all community initiatives is a focus on inclusiveness, ensuring cricket is a sport for all.
"Cricket is something for everyone in the regions to look forward to," Ross said.
"It's such a good sport for Australian kids to get active in a safe and controlled environment because it's a sport where social distancing can be implemented, and kids can play in a COVID-safe way."
