GERRINGONG junior Lucy Darragh has become a state champion after clinching victory at the NSW Grommet State Titles on Sunday.

In a low-scoring final, Darragh, a Werri Beach Boardrider, was able to claim a 7.47 two-wave heat total to secure the win in the under 12 girls category.
The South Coast was well represented by surfers on the final day of action at Maroubra Beach.
The under 14 girls final line-up included Port Kembla's Bodhi Simon and Austinmer surfer Shyla Short.
Victory was claimed by Lennox Head's Juniper Harper from fellow Lennox Head competitor Ocea Curtis, while Simon and Short finished third and four respectively.
After a strong showing on Saturday, Port Kembla teen Samuel Lowe backed up to finish third in the under 14 boys category.
The under 14 boys winner was Freshwater surfer Sol Gruendling from Max McGillvray, of Evans Head.
Dee Why's Ben Zanatta Creagh claimed the win in the under 12 boys category from Freshwater's Sullivan Tucker.
Ulladulla's Koby Jackson also clinched his spot at the North Stradbroke Island national titles in November by finishing seventh in the under 14 boys.
