At the heart of the dispute is ownership of the houses at Roseby Park. The Jerrinja people say they own the homes; the land council says it does and the tenants need to pay rent. The matter is headed to court. One resident, who has called the place home for the past 53 years, fears she will end up living in a tent.
Regardless of the rights or wrongs, the timing couldn't be worse because should face homelessness in the middle of pandemic. We hope the issue is resolved quickly and that no one is turfed out onto the street.
Although it happend in Ulladulla, the whole Shoalhaven was saddened by the death of a schoolgirl outside Ulladulla High on Wednesday. The tragedy is a reminder to everyone to take special care when driving around schools. It also reminds us of the fragility of life.
